If we had a dollar for every time someone said “What are you going to do with a Humanities degree?” we might have enough money to find this magazine on our own. Sadly, that’s not how the world works, so production of this magazine is currently coming out of our (sad, sad) bank accounts. If you’d like to donate, you can through our Ko-Fi page. Donations come in variable amounts (as low as $3), so you can give whatever you can afford!

You might be wondering what your donations will be used for, and we guarantee you here and now that 100% of donations will be put directly back into this magazine. We have big plans for the future, but we need your help to achieve them:

Website Development

You can do a lot with two hours of CodeAcademy training, but, unfortunately, some basic HTML and flashy page titles does not a website make. Part of the donations will be used to upgrade our website and purchase a domain name.

Print Issues

We would also LOVE to expand into print issues, but printing can be expensive. I mean think about it: you have the cost of the printer, the paper, the ink, the emotional break down when the printer jams and you can’t figure it out, the embarrassment when you realize you just didn’t close the ink tray all the way…..It’s all just so much.

We also know, however, that the feeling of holding your published work in your hands is priceless. A bulk of donations will be invested in printing costs for published artists and for interested readers.

Supporting Minority Artists

Our main goal with this journal is to support minority artists by giving them a platform. We would also love to be able to support them monetarily. Whether it’s through contests in the future or paying authors for accepted submissions, if we drum up enough revenue, all extra donations will go to support the artists that make Sappho’s Garden possible.
